About AfricaRice Climate Data
The AfricaRice climate data site provides centralised access to reliable climate information to support research and decision-making in agriculture.
Our mission
The AfricaRice climate data programme aims to collect, store and share high-quality weather data from automatic stations installed in the main rice-growing areas of Africa.
This data is essential for agricultural research, and rice research in particular: selecting rice varieties adapted to local climate conditions, crop modelling, planning sowing and harvest calendars, yield forecasting, climate risk management and adaptation to climate change.
Our network currently covers 25 African countries with 281 automatic weather stations that continuously measure temperature, rainfall, humidity, wind speed, solar radiation and evapotranspiration.

Provide climate data that is essential for crop monitoring and management in Africa, and develop predictive models to optimise cropping calendars.
